Quick Night Rambling

I don’t have much free time at the moment, as it’s the middle of the week and I’m quite exhausted after a long hard day’s work while another one is already lurking in the back, ready to pounce on me as soon as the day springs up tomorrow. Hence, I need to retire to bed soon, or else I won’t be able to wake up on time.

But I would like to share the good news with you.

First, I’ve finished translating all the letters between Albert and Candy from the novel. Yay! I can’t believe it myself, but I was able to sail through the rest of the letters without any problem, other than the usual struggles with particles and modifiers, which can change the tone of the phrase drastically. I’m currently reviewing and editing the translated letters to ensure they’re accurate and make perfect sense in English, as there were some parts that were translated literally but sounded really awkward in English. With respect to the content, as I found with the other letters I previously translated, these ones also contain more interesting tidbits that are not mentioned in CCFS. I’m contemplating to do a head-to-head comparison of the letters of the novel vs. CCFS. I thought that may be a topic of interest for some of you avid CC fans. Yes? 😀

I plan to publish all the letters eventually, which will conclude my first translation project—the correspondence between Albert and Candy from Candy Candy Original Novel. I thought I wouldn’t be able to complete them by end of the year. So I’m patting myself on the back for that feat. At this rate, I’m considering to extend the project longer, translating the other letters as well. One that I think will be interesting to dig further is the letter Candy addressed to Anthony, which, along with the ones designated for Terry and Susanna, can be found in chapter 6, prior to Albert and Candy’s Correspondence in volume 3, the last volume of the novel. The title of the chapter is “Unsent Letters”.

Second, chapter 12 of Awakening is almost ready for release. Once it’s beta-ed and polished, it will be published. Since I’ve made you wait long enough, I’ll give you a sneak peek a day prior, but for the full version you have to read either in FF or Reverie 😀

Third, chapter 12 of All I Want is stewing. My target is to post this by end of next week, but we’ll see whether I’ll be able to achieve that. This week has been extremely busy for me that I haven’t had any time nor the energy to do anything that requires deep concentration, such as writing.

Last, yes, I know you must all have been wondering what happens with Forever and a Day. Sorry. I decided to postpone the update until all the chapters have been published in FF. Rest assured, chapter 5 is ready to be released.

Phew! That’s quite a bit of updates…

Surely, those will keep me tied up for a while. Hopefully, they’ll do the same for you as well.

Status of Updates

Happy Tuesday (or Wednesday to those on the other side of the world)!

I hope your week is going well so far.

My apology for not posting for more than a week.

The reason is the following:

Work and family events plus lots of traveling = exhaustion = no time to dedicate to any leisure activities.

These past weeks, I guess I must have been pushing myself a bit too hard. Now I’m stuck at home for the rest of the week, fighting extremely vicious flu bug. Fever, persistent coughing, runny nose, sneezing, wheezing, yep all those nasty symptoms, I experience them all. Joy 🤒😷🤧

The good news is since I’ve been strapped to bed with no work tasks and deadlines to badger me and no duty or obligation to worry about, I have plenty of idle time. Amazingly, the inspiration well that has been completely empty for so long is running again, new ideas trickling in by the minute. I suppose my being sick is not so bad after all, if it somehow managed to rouse my dormant creative cells 😉

So what have I been working on? Everything. OK, maybe not quite everything. But I’ve gone through all the incomplete stories that are on the top of my list, such as All I Want, Forever and a Day, and Awakening. Yes, Awakening. Finally, there’s progress. I don’t know when I can release it but at least I’m moving in the right direction. I know many of you have been begging for an update for that particular series. All I can say is that I’ll do my best. In the meanwhile, chapter 11 of All I Want is nearly ready to be released. Not too far behind that, there is chapter 5 of Forever and a Day. So stay tuned for those.

On a different note, I want to apologize for those who are waiting for the Reverie account activation. I haven’t had time to process any of the requests. But I plan to perform some maintenance works on the blog very soon. So I could probably review and activate the accounts at the same time.

Updates and stuff

Hope your week had gone well. Mine was so so. But, hey! It’s the weekend!

I won’t pester you with my boring rambling. So shall we move on to the updates?

Updates for the main site (this site):

1. Google translate capability has been added. So now you can translate the page and read it in your preferred language. The toggle bar can be found on top of the search window.

Updates for Reverie (sister repository site):

1. Due to various system management issues, registration is closed until further notice. New requests will not be processed. However, requests submitted prior to this week will be reviewed; once approved and activated, account activation notification will be sent via email.

2. Access to translation sections and pages has been temporarily disabled. Stories and articles are still accessible, but please note that some of the articles are restricted and require active account for access.

3. Same as the main site, Google translate capability has been added. Now you can translate the page and read it in your preferred language. The toggle bar can be found near the bottom of the page. Scroll all the way down from the main page to access it.

4. Bulletin board is up! It’s a forum-style message and discussion board. This is the place to look for updates and other information related to the site, including technical support. This is also the place for general discussion of different topics. Registered users and visitors have full access to the board. The board can be accessed from the home page or the menu and side bars. Please use the board to report any technical issues. The main purpose of the bulletin board is to facilitate communicate between us. So please make us of it whenever you can.

5. For ease of navigation, the bottom sidebar has been updated with Menu, Recent Comments, and Excerpts from the main site sections.

Still alive and well

Yep, it’s me. I’m still here…

Words cannot express how sorry I am for having neglected the sites for such a long time, yet again. I’ll spare you from the incessant rambling about my predicament. It’s nothing new. We’ve all been there. Let’s just say real life has been challenging.

I understand if some of you have gone tired of waiting and given up completely. I don’t blame you. I’m the one at fault here. Whether you’re still here or not, I do want to thank you for everything, especially for the outpouring of support and encouragement through the messages and emails. I appreciate them from the bottom of my heart. That being said, I can’t promise I’ll update the sites frequently, but I can assure you that I have all the intention to keep them running—and, believe it or not, to finish all my stories.

Speaking of updates, the sites have undergone some changes recently and more are coming, including few major ones for Reverie. Some of you might have noticed it, some not. I’ll talk about all the changes and updates in a separate post.

CC Fanfic tidbits and Updates

I’m happy to say that the writing of Forever and a Day is progressing rather nicely. An update should be coming in the not too distant future.

I do hope you’re aware that the rating is at least a solid R for this series, and it’ll reach M at some point. No, that’s not a joke. Candy and Albert are not exactly kids anymore. So you can expect them doing grown-up stuff 😉

Also, as I mentioned before, the series will be updated in a sporadic fashion, which means update can happen in small fractions or fragments. However, what I didn’t inform you is that I may not always post an update alert when there is an update/revision. Hence you may want to keep that in mind, in case you’re wondering why it feels like there’s something different the second time or nth time you read it.

Reverie Update and Status

As promised, here’s the lowdown:

There was a bit of a scare earlier that had sent me into a panic attack when the entire site seemed to have vanished into oblivion, swallowed by the blackhole.

Thank goodness all is well now.

But at the moment, the site is still offline.

Changes are coming, and these changes will directly impact those of you who are still waiting for your account to be activated and those who are interested to register, but not so much those with active accounts.

So anyone without active account who still wants to obtain access should continue reading this.

First, I want to address those of you who have registered at Reverie since early March. You’re probably wondering whether you will ever be granted an access. The answer is yes, eventually. It’s not going to be right away, and the process won’t be as simple as it was before. There are extra steps to follow.

What happened?

It turns out there’s a possible breach in the registration system that must be patched up at once. Because of this I have to implement additional precautionary measures to all pending accounts. Please note this means there will be extra steps you need to do in order for your account to be activated, and you must do it correctly as detailed in the notification email. Otherwise you’ll risk to have your account deactivated and purged, and your IP address might be blocked.

In addition, to prevent any future problem, I decided to disable the automatic registration system.

Eh?!!

Does this mean you can’t register at Reverie anymore?

That is correct. BUT there’s a way if you still want to gain access to Reverie’s restricted sites, and the procedures are clearly outlined in the registration page.

Basically, you need to send me a private message. The message should contain a brief statement about the request for access, along with your name, email address, and your country of current residence. Providing me with more information than the required ones listed, such as the reason why you would like to get access, is not necessary, but it may facilitate the approval process. Conversely, providing me with inadequate or wrong information may result in your IP address being blocked, and a request made using an anonymous email provider will be denied.

And please, I beg you, do NOT create a duplicate/secondary account should you run into any problem. Instead send me a message with a detailed description of your problem. I might be forced to ban you if I discover you have multiple accounts.

I hate to impose such strict requirements, but considering the harms this potential breach might cause, that it could be used as a backdoor for infiltrating the main server with malwares and viruses, I don’t want to take anything for granted. I hope you understand.

The good news is that I’m almost done with all the works. So expect the site to be back soon, maybe with an update or two 😀
